Oil Painting Demonstration with
Thomas R. Dunlay

Dunlay was introduced at an early age to painting by his father. He studied
formally at an art school and then sought a more traditional and disciplined
approach. That led him to study with Robert Douglas Hunter in Boston and
Provincetown and then to the atelier of R.H. Ives Gammell, Hunter’s teacher
where he studied in Boston and during summers in Williamstown in the manner of
the Boston School.
Two art grants
from the E.T. Green Shields Memorial Foundation have been awarded to Tom. He’s
the recipient of numerous awards, including the Sagendorph Award of Yankee
Magazine and two John Singleton Copley Awards from the Copley Society of
Boston. He is a member of the Guild of Boston Artists. He has had one-man shows
at the Boston Atheneum, the Guild of Boston Artists and at the St. Botolph
Club. His paintings are included in many public, corporate and private
focus of Tom’s work includes landscape, figure and still life painting. He
summers on Nantucket where he can be seen painting plein air on the beach or on
the village streets.
Join us for our November meeting where Tom will
demonstrate his oil painting expertise in a cityscape. Non-artists and
artists are most welcome. Social time begins at 6:45 p.m. and the demonstration
begins at 7:00 p.m. Location: Endicott Mansion, 656 East Street, Dedham, MA
(parking and entrance in the rear.) Free for members and $5 for guests.
